Output 5.1 on a Mac using QuickTime

I’m sure to all the AV fanatics Apple is something to stay away with since all of their HD content are done with obscurity and infected with AAC audio instead of the more popular AC-3 and DTS formats. But if you’re the type who download their movies for playback, here’s a little tip for you so that you can output multiple channel audio formats to your receiver.

Basically: Get Perian, configure it for audio output, add line to AC-3 plist, set Audio MIDI audio output.
