EGM is done, last publication is this month.
Even worse news? Look at the list of people laid off during this transaction. Some big name people, Ryan O’Donnell, Jay Fresh, pretty much the entire 1UP Show personalities. What would I be watching this weekend?!
This is an outrage. I hope they all join the Giant Bomb staff and start a truly independent online effort.
Multiple sources in and around Ziff Davis Media have told Joystiq that UGO Entertainment is on the verge of finalizing a deal to buy parts of Ziff’s 1UP Network, including 1up.com, GameVideos.com and MyCheats.com.
What? No EGM in this deal? Why? It doesn’t make any sense to just buy 1UP without considering EGM as well. Sure paper publications is losing money but EGM is the one 1UP-related product that every gamer knows about.
